With our dedication to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values, we are proud to unveil our Green Ramadan initiative this year that goes beyond responsible and local sourcing of ingredients.

At Hilton Kuala Lumpur and DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City, an implementation of the Winnow system tracks and manages food waste as our chefs diligently input daily data into LightStay, which calculates and analyzes our sustainability performance throughout hotel operations from production to plate. This will then help us gauge the right portions for buffets held in the long run, and in turn further mitigate wastage without compromising on the exquisite flavors of Malaysian cuisine.

Both properties have also added more live cooking stations that are both sustainable and appetizing. As everything is made to order, they minimize food waste as well as maintain the highest standards of freshness and taste. Each portion is small enough for guests to be able to enjoy the rest of the buffet, or even go back for seconds as they’re absolutely irresistible.

To ensure further reduction of material discard, Hilton Kuala Lumpur has partnered with Vision Waste Disposal Sdn Bhd to help us transform our biodegradable waste into biogas. Breaking down organic matter this way signifies a key step towards a sustainable and circular economy as it reduces the emission of harmful gasses and generates clean, renewable energy — an extremely valuable alternative to traditional extraction of fossil fuels.

Joining hands with the Food Aid Foundation is DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City, distributing food packs to those in need and symbolizing our pledge to nourish both body and soul during this sacred month.
